![Karl_Heinz_Hofmann.jpg](files/6c7638fa-671a-43fb-90b5-d205fd65de07/Karl_Heinz_Hofmann.jpg) I'm staff astronomer at the Max-Planck-Institute for Radio Astronomy in Bonn. I was involved in several interferometric projects in the last 20 years: the near-infrared instrument AMBER and the mid-infrared instrument MATISSE at the ESO VLT interferometer. One of my interests are the development of algorithms for the reduction of interferometric data and for image reconstruction. I have developed the image reconstruction software "Building Block" method, which was the first one deriving the image directly from the bispectrum (bispectrum = closure phases + visibilities). I have written the image reconstruction tool IRBis, which is an extension of the Building Block method with more sophisticated minimization routines.
